Why does my base feel busy but still fail to produce what I need?

Direct answer

Measure one production loop from gathering to finished item. The bottleneck may be hauling, storage placement, crafting capacity, power, or interruptions rather than raw resource supply. Improve the slowest verified stage first.

Decision signalWhat to verifyNext move
Raw materials are availableTime the trip from source to storageReduce transport before adding gathering
Storage stays fullCheck transfer and crafting throughputMove capacity closer to the consuming station
Players constantly interveneList manual steps and interruptionsSimplify the loop with the highest attention cost

Decision checklist

  • Choose one finished item the base must produce
  • Record each stage from gathering through storage and crafting
  • Measure where materials wait the longest
  • Check transport, power, weight, and player attention
  • Change one stage and compare the complete loop again

Stop and recheck when

  • Do not expand until the current slowest stage is identified
  • Reverse a change that shifts the delay without improving total output

Common mistakes

  • Adding more gathering when transport is full
  • Expanding storage without improving access
  • Changing several production stages before measuring one
