Palworld 1.0 progression reset: Sunreach, Awakening, and Mutation priorities

A clean planning order for returning players facing Sunreach, 72 new Pals, Awakening, Mutation, and broad balance changes.

Current major release Official update: 2026-07-10 Reviewed: 2026-07-17 How RaidBench reviews updates

What should a returning player do first in Palworld 1.0?

Short answer

Start with an audit, not a spending spree. Palworld 1.0 adds Sunreach, 72 new Pals, Awakening and Mutation systems, rebalanced Pals, and large changes to base building and multiplayer. Verify the old base loop, rebuild one dependable production chain, review the combat team under the new balance, and only then commit rare materials to the new strengthening systems.

AreaWhat it means
New areaSunreach expands exploration and progression routes.
Roster change72 new Pals raise the total to 287 in the official release notes.
New progressionAwakening and Mutation add new strengthening decisions.
Balance impactPal stats and abilities were broadly rebalanced.
Operational impactBase building, multiplayer, and other systems received large overhauls.

Player checklist

  1. Load the existing base and identify broken or slower production links.
  2. Recheck work suitability and combat roles after the broad Pal rebalance.
  3. Establish one stable food, sphere, repair, and transport loop.
  4. Scout Sunreach with recovery supplies and spare capture resources.
  5. Test Awakening and Mutation on a controlled target before using scarce materials widely.

What this update does not prove

A major release does not make every older strategy useless. Keep any loop that still produces the required materials safely and consistently.
